If you point a flash light at it, you can see all the options. You can navigate between communication, navigation, entertainment etc. Everything is there and working normally.
press the ‘Volume up’ button, press the ‘Volume down’ button and hold the ‘Wake’ button for a few seconds. or. hold the ‘Wake’ button along with the ‘Home’ button together until the screen goes blank. Once the two are back and running again, try pairing your phone to your iDrive system and enable BMW Apple CarPlay one more
It's come back working, playing music, etc - but the iDrive controller is now not working (turning or clicking down have no effect). The company that repaired my CCC state that they have tested the unit complete with amp/screen/controller and all aspects were functional before it left the shop.

c0vfHI. Touch idrive controller from late 2013 and up (larger knob) with 4 pin bottom connector. Non touch idrive controller has the same 4 pin bottom connector. So if you swap it out with touch idrive, it will work but without touch feature if you do not add items below. Control box for touch p/n 65829347470 or other number that supersede the number
Car is a 2009 528i. No Nav installed. Got in the car the other day and noticed that the iDrive display was off. Tried pressing various iDrive buttons not no response. Tried the reset procedure by pressing the eject and mute button. It did reset but no change to the iDrive. Verified all fuses in the back and front are OK.

I have only had this car for 3 days and every day so far, (while driving) and listening to music, the idrive just completely goes blank for about 20 seconds and the music stops. The BMW splash screen shows up, and a few seconds later the music (playing from USB flash) picks up right where it left off.
The next step is to reset the TPM warning. Inflate the tires to the recommended tire pressure. Typically, 36 PSI. Press the iDrive knob to select vehicle settings. Scroll down to Vehicle Tires using the iDrive knob. Rotate the iDrive knob to select the TPM menu. Select Reset, then press the iDrive knob. Select YES.
